Day by day, the choices we make are influenced by graphic images that bombard us, from tv and internet

to billboards and movie posters. We have been programmed to react in certain ways to certain images.

Most prevalent of all, are images of violence.

With Today Marks the Beginning, the young ladies

of Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School step out into the community

to give a new spin on INFLUENCE in a positive way.

I made a picture of the world with a kind of hippie background. I used paper and markers to make the background and some spongy material that was going to go to the trash, but I was able to use it. I really think this will influence people to stop and see the harm that is being done and hopefully they will want to make a difference in the world. I learned that just with the simple everyday things you do at home you can be helping Earth. I also learned that you do not have to go to the store and buy materials that are already around you, you can make an amazing project just by using everyday things and things that around you.
