Day by day, the choices we make are influenced by graphic images that bombard us, from tv and internet

to billboards and movie posters. We have been programmed to react in certain ways to certain images.

Most prevalent of all, are images of violence.

With Today Marks the Beginning, the young ladies

of Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School step out into the community

to give a new spin on INFLUENCE in a positive way.

I used tin foil, green, black, and white glass beads, sea shells and plastic flowers. I chose this image because I saw a picture of a ying/yang sign and we were doing a peace project so I combined a peace sign with a ying/yang sign. I think my art will influence people that if you are a girl or boy, young or old, it is never to late to try and make peace in the world. I learned from this project that even the simplest things you do can make a difference.
