Day by day, the choices we make are influenced by graphic images that bombard us, from tv and internet

to billboards and movie posters. We have been programmed to react in certain ways to certain images.

Most prevalent of all, are images of violence.

With Today Marks the Beginning, the young ladies

of Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School step out into the community

to give a new spin on INFLUENCE in a positive way.

People need to be together and there is no reason for violence. My art consists of different races of hands reaching toward the peace sign (which basically means everyone needs to be together in anything). I used a plastic bag, cardboard, color paper (all recyclable). I think I will impact peoples' minds so that they learn to work together all in one with no violence. I found this project interesting and I learned that if everyone works together, the world will be a better place. I take away from this project that we need to take care of the Earth together and create peace amongst ourselves.
