Day by day, the choices we make are influenced by graphic images that bombard us, from tv and internet

to billboards and movie posters. We have been programmed to react in certain ways to certain images.

Most prevalent of all, are images of violence.

With Today Marks the Beginning, the young ladies

of Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School step out into the community

to give a new spin on INFLUENCE in a positive way.

I chose to display my poster at my local library, because there are
always lots of people there mainly children and so I think that
displaying my art would teach them something about peace. On my poster
I used straws to form the word PEACE and using foam stickers I drew
peace signs and smiley faces. This project was a great way to spread
the word about peace. Mainly because the students displayed their
posters all around Dallas, trying to influence people.
