Day by day, the choices we make are influenced by graphic images that bombard us, from tv and internet

to billboards and movie posters. We have been programmed to react in certain ways to certain images.

Most prevalent of all, are images of violence.

With Today Marks the Beginning, the young ladies

of Irma Lerma Rangel Young Women's Leadership School step out into the community

to give a new spin on INFLUENCE in a positive way.

I used contact paper, wrapping paper, and some pieces of colored paper I found for the background of my poster. I used a fake holly for the P and the C. I used buttons for the first E. I used a paper bag handle with a part of a boarder for the A. I used some felt for the second E. I made the word PEACE because I thought that people would know what it meant because I’m trying to say exactly what I wrote. I found this experience fun and new. I learned that it’s not good enough just to know that you know what peace is, we all need to spread the word of peace to the whole world. I hope that the people who see it will spread peace to other people and make the world a better place for everyone.

I wanted my community to know about peace and how it affects everyone. That is why I choose the Trinity River Mission because it is a place to help children. From what I have learned is that we can teach people with showing and demonstrating kids first.

My poster has only one word, "LIVE!" The only reason I put that is because I couldn't find a symbol representing it. The rest are symbols representing other things like; peace, recycling, and being happy. So the whole message I am trying to give is to live these ways, peacefully, recycling, and being happy. The materials that I used was mostly construction paper, unused empty discs and Christmas tree ribbon decoration for the border. Making this was fun. I like crafts and especially when you could use whatever you want. I hope that at least one person would really understands the message and what I am saying. Overall this really shows peace.

I just made a poster that I thought would catch people's attention. I used paint, scissors, glue, stickers, stars, etc. I created a imaged that was very simple and unique to me. I chose this image because I love color and it would be different. I want people to NOT think of war of messing up my art, but to have peace. I learn that
images, posters, words, etc. can really make a difference in our world if we speak up.

My Peace Project was all about making peace in boxes. I did a puzzle piece with boxes of what makes the world a happy place: Peace, Kindness and Love. That’s what I think the world needs to make it a happy place. Peace represents everyone getting along nobody getting hurt whether it’s physically or emotionally. Kindness represents people getting along like when you see that picture that has a world and everybody holding hands. Love represents when we all appreciate what we do and when we just like each other like Michael Jackson’s song remix “We are all part of god’s great big family.”All of this just makes everyone happy and we made a bigger step to make the world happy.

On my art I used fabric, yarn, colored paper, and paint. The image I wanted to create was that love and peace is good for the world. I chose this image because I love the quote "live laugh love". I found this experience very fun and interesting. Something I took away from this project was how one little thing could help the world.
